Those struggling with post-concussion symptoms now have an app-based resource for support during their concussion recovery. SuperBetter is making available, at no cost, the Power Packs (i.e. daily activities) developed for the clinical trial that evaluated the impact of using SuperBetter among concussion patients with persistent symptoms. People with a concussion or mild to moderate traumatic brain injury can access these Power Packs in the SuperBetter app or website using the special code found near the end of this post.

SuperBetter shown to have #1 greatest effect for reducing depression & anxiety symptoms in meta-analyses of mental health app studies

We are proud that SuperBetter is backed by science.

One of the studies evaluating the effectiveness of SuperBetter is a randomized controlled trial conducted at the University of Pennsylvania.  In that study, participants who played SuperBetter for 30 days had significantly reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety, and increased optimism, self-efficacy, perceived social support and life satisfaction.

Today, only a tiny fraction of mental health & wellbeing apps have been evaluated in peer-reviewed scientific studies; however, the number of apps with studies has now grown large enough that researchers are able to conduct meta-analysis, which are studies that look across the all of the randomized controlled trials in a given area to draw conclusions. The SuperBetter UPENN study is included in two of these meta-analysis.

A big thank you to the Super Allies we interviewed!

Here at SuperBetter we’ve recently been carrying out a multi-faceted research project intended to help us better understand the ways that peole use and benefit from SuperBetter—what kinds of goals and challenges they use it for, their patterns and habits of use, and in what ways it has helped them and in what ways it could be improved so that it can help them even more.

The SuperBetter Website Has a New Look

You may have noticed the redesign over at SuperBetter.com. The previous design helped to organically grow the SuperBetter community to nearly a million people strong. Although it served us well, the design was more than 3 years old, and with so many positive advances in recent years, an update was in order.

SuperBetter Continues to Appear on Media’s “Best of” Lists

As the importance of resilience well-being and mental health increasingly receives more attention in the media, SuperBetter continues to appear on various “best of” lists that get published periodically. Most of the time we find out about these lists on accident, while just browsing social media. We thought it would be cool, however, to compile some of the recent inclusions over the past half year or so into a single list post of our own.

Below, in chronological order starting with most recent, are the lists that have been published by publications and blogs in which SuperBetter was included. We’ll list the publication, title of the article, date of publication (if provided), and a brief excerpt of what they wrote about SuperBetter along with some of our own comments.

A Security Update for SuperBetter Forum Users

For several years, SuperBetter made a forum available as a resource for our community. The forum was hosted on a 3rd party platform, separate from SuperBetter.com. For reasons unrelated to this post, the forum was removed in mid-2017 and replaced with the SuperBetter Official Community Group on Facebook.

It recently came to our attention that at some point while the forum was still active, an unauthorized party acquired data associated with some forum accounts. The affected information included email addresses and passwords.

We take the protection of personal information seriously. When we became aware, we took steps to determine the nature and scope of the issue. The investigation determined that only SuperBetter Forum accounts were affected. Accounts associated with the SuperBetter.com website or apps were not affected.

We’re Looking for a Few Good Moderators! (For the SuperBetter Community!)

Hi, everyone,

Hope you enjoyed the holidays!

A few weeks back we announced the new official SuperBetter community group on Facebook. The response from the community has been tremendously positive, and as of this writing the group is already a few hundred members strong. Every day there are new members joining, and every day there are new posts sharing insights, tips, wisdom, and mutual support.

As mentioned in the previous announcement, the SuperBetter team is busy pouring its energy and resources into supporting our SuperBetter At Work alliance partnership. So in order to keep the official SuperBetter community group a positive, welcoming, and safe space we’re going to need the help of our allies – that’s you!

We’re reaching out to the SuperBetter community to see if there are any heroes out there who would like to serve as volunteer moderators for the Facebook group.

25 successful people

(via Success.com)

Hi, Allies, we just wanted to quickly share some fun and exciting news with you about Jane McGonigal, the beloved creator of SuperBetter.

Each year, the business magazine Success puts out its “Success 25” list. The precise title of the list varies a bit from year to year, but the basic premise is the same: these are the twenty-five people that Success magazine feels can most help to change your life for the better in the year to come.

They recently published their fourth annual list, “25 Successful People Who’ll Help Change Your Life in 2018.” And guess what? Jane is on the list! And not only that, her twin sister Kelly McGonigal is on it as well! Talk about Wonder Twin powers!
